Tallow Balm 4 oz

Out of stock

It’s that time of year again. The heat comes on and the air dries out which of course dries out our skin. Tallow balm is one of my favorite solutions to the inevitable wintery, dry, cracked skin that comes this time of year. It is easily absorbed by the skin without leaving it looking or feeling greasy. It can be used all over the body including on your face, lips, hands, and feet. I often use a dab instead of lip balm. A tiny bit goes a really long way.

This simple balm is made up of locally sourced grass-fed beef tallow and organic cold-pressed olive oil. That’s it.

Tallow balm is safe for all ages. In fact this was the only thing I used on my son as an infant. I would moisturize his skin after baths, give him baby massages and use it on diaper rash. We use tallow balm for just about everything, on eczema, dry and chapped skin, sun burn, rashes, callouses. It can even be used as an after shave. We also like to apply it after being out in the sun for a long time.

As this Weston A Price article boasts, “Tallow contains the abundant natural fat-soluble activators, vitamins A, D, and K, as well as vitamin E, which are found only in animal fats and which are all necessary for general health and for skin health.” Tallow also contains fats like conjugated linoleic acid and palmitoleic acid which have incredible benefits for the body.

So moisturize as our ancestors did with this traditional balm. Each jar is 4 oz. My tallow balm does not contain any essential oils so that it can be used on infants, children, during pregnancy, and while breastfeeding. Feel free to add your favorite blend of essential oils. Just warm the balm up (at the lowest possible temperature that it melts) in a glass bowl, mix in your oils and cool in the fridge. Tallow balm should be stored at room temperature. There is no need to refrigerate it but it will melt at high temperatures.

This is a great moisturizer for those with allergies who find it hard to find a good quality moisturizer without their allergens in it. As many clean, plant based products contain ingredients that are allergenic to some. *All Mind Your Own Skin Care products are carefully prepared in a work space that is made free of possible allergens, however they are prepared in equipment shared with other products and in a facility that has other possible allergens including but not limited to wheat, corn, dairy, soy, eggs, fish, shellfish, peanuts, and tree nuts.
